PLOVER – A central Wisconsin-based food truck will be one of four food trucks inside the draft zone at the 2025 NFL draft in Green Bay.
Purple Basil announced Thursday morning the truck was selected as one of four trucks inside the draft zone. The owners said once they know the exact location, they will let people know where they can find them at the April 24-26 event.
“We couldn’t be more excited,” they said in the post.
What’s Purple Basil?
Purple Basil is an Italian food truck that orders custom pasta dishes and travels throughout central Wisconsin.
Taylor Okerlund and Carolina Corral are two military veterans who dreamed of running a business. The pair teamed up to start Purple Basil in 2020, first operating out of Opportunity Development Center, using its kitchen on Huntington Avenue in Wisconsin Rapids.
The first year, Purple Basil set up catering tents or offered “grazing boxes” of charcuterie-style snacks. They bought the food truck in February 2021 and finished the truck in May.
The truck started out traveling within 30 miles, often to Plover and Stevens Point, although the truck traveled farther out for special occasions elsewhere in Wisconsin.
In 2024, Purple Basil secured a more permanent setup for the truck, creating the Purple Basil Terrace in Plover.
During warmer months, the food truck is parked at the former Mission Coffee House patio on Post Road in Plover, serving as the truck’s primary location, while still traveling to special events throughout the season.
